Seat Reality Check
Qualifying NEET and getting an MBBS seat are two very different things. This tool shows you, honestly, where a given rank sits against the actual number of seats in India.
Why this tool exists. In 2026, 11,21,185 candidates qualified NEET.
India has about 1,36,939 MBBS seats. Qualifying is necessary, but it is not the
finish line — roughly eight qualified candidates exist for every seat, and only about one in
fourteen qualified candidates will get a government seat. Most websites will not tell you this.

What this tool can and cannot tell you
What it does tell you
- Roughly how many candidates are ahead of you nationally
- How your rank compares with the total number of All India Quota seats
- How it compares with all government MBBS seats in India
- How it compares with every MBBS seat, government and private together
What it cannot tell you
- Whether you will actually get a seat
- Which college you will get
- Your category rank, which is what reservation is applied to
- Your state rank, which decides 85% of government seats
The single most important thing to understand. Rank does not map to seats one for
one. Reservation is applied within categories, so a candidate with a lower All India Rank may get a
seat that a higher-ranked candidate does not. Eighty-five per cent of government seats go through
your own state's counselling, where you compete only against candidates from your state. And every
year a number of candidates who qualify never enter counselling at all. Treat this tool as a sense
of scale, not as a prediction.

One caution on the government/private split: the 2026 figures imply private seats grew by roughly 12,750 in a single year, against about 3,600 the year before. That jump comes from a secondary report of the NMC matrix and is worth verifying against the NMC document directly before relying on it.
The gap between qualifying and getting a seat is closed by preparation
Eight qualified candidates for every seat is not a reason to despair. It is a reason to prepare with a system rather than with hope.
